Hello, I’m Professor Kerrie Wilson, the Queensland Chief Scientist.

I’m thrilled to hear that you are celebrating National Science Week at your school.

Science is so important for our community.

If you look around, you’ll see that science is everywhere. It’s in:

• the credit card that pays for your shopping.
• the food that you eat and
• the bike or car that got you to school
• the buildings, roads and lights

Science is not only happening in labs.

And it’s much more than just looking for new medicines.

And not all scientists wear lab coats!

There is a so much scientific research going on right across Queensland.

I’d love for you to explore the different areas of science, technology, engineering and maths that our scientists are working on. And maybe you’ll do science studies yourself.

Don't forget to tell your family and friends of how they can get involved. And happy National Science Week.

My job is to help government use science to make important decisions and I promote the amazing work our Queensland scientists do.

I want everyone to know about science and its many benefits.

Science is happening all around us, and not just in labs.

I’d love for you to explore the different areas of science, technology, engineering and maths that our Queensland scientists are working on. And perhaps you’ll continue studies to become a scientist yourself.

You can always be curious about what you see and hear, and maintain a passion for learning new things.

They’re supporting new scientific research, driving innovation and helping us make informed decisions that benefit our society, environment, health and economy.
